Twenty-two designers, thousands of Swarovski crystals, and one great cause make for an incredible gallery showing. One year ago, Swarovski commissioned 22 designers– a combination of seasoned fashion leaders and rising stars– to each create a unique black dress, using Swarovski crystals. During fashion week, these pieces will be on display at the Phillips de Pury and company gallery in the meatpacking district. The dresses are elegantly displayed (along with black and white photographs of a few pieces that are not shown) through several rooms in the gallery.
The dresses are going to be auctioned off on September 20th at the gallery space. All proceeds are going to the American Cancer Society and la Ligue nationale contre le cancer in France. I strongly recommend stopping in to see the exhibit if you are in the area, if nothing else, to see the Martin Grant cap-sleeved dress that is covered in thousands of Xilion crystals…exquisite.
