Long Live McQueen: the Legacy continues at Paris FW

How does one take over for a man who was quite possibly the biggest showman and most renowned designer of this generation?

This must be one of the most anticipated shows in the history of fashion.  No doubt 15 years alongside the mastermind has allowed Burton to hone in on McQueen’s aesthetic, but surely attendees were sitting in their seats pre-show wondering if it would be a total bust; afterall, who could ever life up to the expectation. Surprisingly enough, Sarah Burton has done well keeping the spirit of the late Mr. McQueen alive.   The new collection had all of the classic McQueen quality, with a new feminine softness injected into some of the pieces.  Elaborate materials; feasant feathers, monarch butterflies, embroidery, and finishings combined with expert construction–many are saying that Burton may be the person to take this brand to a level of survival and prosperity.
