MB Fashion Week: Costello Tagliapietra @ Milk Studios!

Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra are two men after my own heart. Everything down to the gift bags at this show was eco-responsible and encouraged health and well being. Guests sipped mini bottles of spicy lemonade from Blue Print Cleanse– my personal favorite for liquid cleansing– while animal friendly knitwear and eco wool jersey dresses waltzed down the runway. The designers were inspired by an early 90s color palette, recalling what was fashionable when they first collaborated to form the brand. Chalkboard greens, bright copper, and vermillion– created through their signature environmentally friendly Airdye technique that dyes the fabric without the use of water– mixed with cadmium yellow and rust, the collection was certainly in line with what we have been seeing this week in terms of tonal colors with bright pops. Their bright color addition: traffic cone orange!
The cuts were very ladylike 70s; whispy floor length jersy dresses, high waisted separates, and bell sleeves. The turtleneck is making a comeback, but this season it is getting a makeover with a unique neckline or structure . Also, there was an added glamor and romanticism in the cowl necklines and the faux fur mittens. It was most certainly a return to a simpler time and a more graceful power-woman.
Favorite piece: the safron yellow sleeveless folded gown with a low v-neck– just stunning.
