MB Fashion Week: Vivienne Tam

Long known for her dedication to innovation and globalism, Vivienne Tam’s new collection speaks volumes about fashion as a delicate art piece. A Chinese born and Hong Kong bred multicultural designer, her work transcends politics and discrimination, an East-meets-West harmony in style and craftsmanship. While everyone is doing soft and flowy, she keeps structure with boxier silhouettes and aline cuts. Each piece showed attention to detail through a different element such as an intricate pattern embroidered on a coat or a cocktail dress, or an intentional layering of a sheer material over a shimmery underlay. With elaborate designs and obvious dedication to each piece, you can’t take your eyes off of this collection.
Favorite piece: the short sleeve cocktail dress with nude chiffon underlay and sheer black material with shimmer print over, fringe neatly sewn in below an embroidered panel at the hips.
