Work to Weekend Wear: Envelope Skirts for the Office

Envelope skirts are asymmetrically shaped (almost origami style) like an envelope and they’re hot on the fashion wire right now.  The sexy cut gives just enough leg to be seductive without offering too much peek-a-boo.  Plus, the trend can be … Continue reading

Trends: The New Native

Native prints have been on-trend for several seasons now, but the new native look is less Tigerlily and more Navajo-chic.  Where last season saw the emergence of tribal prints, this season designers put a Western spin on the trend.  From Proenza Schouler’s Navajo blanket pants to Rodarte’s prairie coats, we are feeling the sumptuous ponchos, decadent tribal jewelry, and fringe-clad accessories from boots to bags.  This look is super wearable for fall and offers a world-traveler appeal that (let’s be honest) we’d all love to evoke in our staple wardrobe.  Test the trend with one staple item like this cozy Vera cardigan with a pair of skinny black denim, add a fringe suede boot, and you are in business.

Well Heeled: Rhinestone Heels Trending Now

Embellishments are always in for fall and winter seasons, but embellished heels are so of-the-moment.  This is a chic way to add just a little sparkle to an outfit without going for an all-over rhinestone shoe which could compete with an already busy outfit.  I’m particularly jazzed about these Giuseppe Zanotti tangerine heels with the geometrically shaped rhinestones. It’s an amazing heel that is great for daytime or night, so hot!

Trends To Try: Baroque Beauties

Autumn leaves are turning and so are our wardrobes, and brocade is one trend I’m particularly excited about this fall.   Tapestry-inspired prints, sumptuous velvets, and rich embroidery are the cornerstones for this decadent look, which popped up in collections from Dolce & Gabbana to Balmain for Fall ’12.  Baroque is such a rich Renaissance look that can be worn so many ways, it’s definitely worth trying out (think fashion royalty over carpet-bagger).  Check out my style guide on getting the look for less!
